Panel Upgrades
Out with the old, in with the new.

Why is it important?
Upgrading your electrical switchboard is extremely important as it ensures your home or business can safely handle today’s power demands. Older panels weren’t designed for modern appliances, air conditioning, solar systems, or EV chargers, and can become overloaded — creating risks of tripping, poor performance, or even electrical fires. A new panel with updated safety devices (RCBOs, RCDs, surge protection) improves reliability, protects your wiring and appliances, and makes sure your installation complies with current Australian standards. In short: it’s about safety, capacity, and future-proofing your electrical system.
How do i know i need an upgrade?
You may need a switchboard upgrade if your home still has ceramic fuses, old circuit breakers and unprotected circuits. Another sign is if your power regularly trips, or if lights flicker when appliances are in use. Older boards weren’t designed for today’s innovative appliances (solar systems/EV chargers, 3 phase aircons) so if you’re planning to add new loads or just want peace of mind, upgrading ensures your electrical system is safe, compliant, and future proof for any possible upgrades.

What is an RCBO?
An RCBO is a modern safety device that combines a circuit breaker and safety switch into one. Unlike older boards where one RCD protects multiple circuits, an RCBO protects each circuit individually — meaning if a fault occurs, only that circuit shuts off instead of the whole house. This makes your electrical system safer, more reliable, and easier to troubleshoot, which is why RCBOs are now the standard choice for switchboard upgrades.
What can i expect in the process?
The entire process of a switchboard upgrade involves a lot of compliance measures and careful planning to ensure minimal downtime. Power to your home or business will be temporarily shut off while the old fuses or breakers are removed and replaced with modern RCBOs or safety switches. The new board will be neatly installed, labelled, and tested to ensure every circuit is protected and working correctly.

As a note - once the upgrade is complete and the new safety devices are installed, faults may arise that the old devices were unable to detect. At which rate a standard hourly fault finding charge will be applied.
